Our coffee shop adventure began with a visit to Safai Coffee on Bardstown Road in Louisville! I have driven past Safai several times and always wondered about it. I'm so glad we decided to go in! Will and I really loved this cozy coffee shop! I'll write a short description of each aspect we rated and at the end of the description I'll put each of our ratings for that specific aspect. Each of our posts will end with our final score and whether or not we would return to the coffee shop!
Atmosphere: The atmosphere at Safai was really great! The employees were friendly and it was easy to order. There were lots of seating options: some outside seating, a bench along the wall with chairs on the other side of the table, regular tables and chairs, two bar style seating areas, and two couches in front of a fireplace. The music was good as well! It was quiet enough to be able to listen to your own music with headphones, but loud enough to hear if you don't want to listen to headphones. They played several different styles of music so it was fun to see what would come on next. The art was also cool! Will and I would consider some of the furniture art because of the DIY look of it. The menu was also very artistic and we really liked it! The lighting was awesome! This was one of my favorite things. I really loved the light fixtures they used and it made for a very cozy environment. When you enter the shop there is a front room with plants and glass windows all around that look out onto Bardstown Road. This is good for people who like more of a bright and naturally lit atmosphere! The wifi worked well for us which is important if you plan on doing some studying while at the shop. The decor was great! Very eclectic and homey. Enough people were at Safai to know it was frequented regularly, but it wasn't packed so it was easy to find seating. Lastly, the sanitation score was 100, and nobody wants to drink coffee from a nasty shop!
Will: 35/35
Katie: 33/35
Drinks: The coffee was good. Safai uses 100% specialty grade Arabica beans that ship directly from 11 different countries and are roasted by Safai themselves. At the shop, I got a caramel latte and Will got a white mocha latte (he will get black coffee at each shop from now on). This wasn't my favorite coffee, but definitely not bad. My latte wasn't very sweet, which is what I like. I have several friends who I know would like it sweeter. Will said his latte was very unique in a good way. The price was good! $4.61 for my medium caramel latte. Safai also served smoothies, tea, wine, beer, and seasonal drinks.

Food: Will and I didn't get any food but we checked out the menu and there seemed to be some good options. They had bagels, muffins, and lots of yummy sounding crepes.
Will: 8/10
Katie: 6/10
Wow Factor: They had a cool rewards card, there wasn't just one big reward for getting every punch filled, but rather several little rewards every 3ish punches. These little rewards were things such as a free flavoring in a latte, an extra shot of espresso, etc. The shop also has some special events such as adult wine night and kid craft night. Safai is in a great location which added some wow factor points for us too!
Will: 15/15
Katie: 13/15
Parking: Safai has a small parking lot, only holding about 5 cars. It is also on a corner so there is a side street for parallel parking and an easy walk to the shop.
Will: 4/5
Katie: 3/5
Overall: We both loved Safai and definitely want to go back! Great atmosphere, good coffee, and we're pretty pumped about trying their crepes!
Will: 91/100
Katie: 85/100
